Big Project 1 (50 points): Choose ONE out of these options:
A. Diary
• Write a diary for one of the characters telling what happened to him or her in the story. Each entry should be five to seven (5-7) sentences long. You must write at least seven (7) entries. Be creative with the format you use.
B. Character sketch
• Sketch a portrait of an important character from the book and write important details about him or her based on what you learned about this character in the story. Include physical traits as well as personality. (written piece - 5 paragraph minimum)
C. Letter to the Author
• Write a letter to the author giving your reaction to the book so far using the friendly letter format. Items that you might discuss in your letter include your reaction to the story, your reaction to the main character(s), what you liked or didn’t like about the plot, and why you would or would not recommend this book to a friend. Big project 2 (50 points): Choose ONE out of these options
A. Pamphlet and Poster
• Design a pamphlet and poster that summarizes and advertises the book that you have read. Things that you might include are brief character descriptions and a plot summary. Remember, you goal is to “sell” the book to other readers.
B. Diorama
• Create a diorama that depicts one scene from the story. You must include a written summary of the events that took place in the scene and the key role that scene plays in the book. (written piece must be a minimum of 5 paragraphs)
C. Book Cover
• Create a new book cover for the book and write an explanation for why you have redesigned the cover as you have. Compare it to the original cover. (written piece - 5 paragraph minimum)
D. Letter to the Author
• Write a letter to the author giving your reaction to the book using the friendly letter format. Items that you might discuss in your letter include your reaction to the story, your reaction to the main character(s), what you liked or didn’t like about the plot, and why you would or would not recommend this book to a friend. Big project 3 (100 points): Choose ONE out of these options
A. Board Game
• Create a board game based on your book. Format it after a traditional board game (such as Monopoly or Trivial Pursuit), or create your own original game. The game must include instructions and at least twenty (20) facts from your selected book.
B. Keynote presentation
• You will write and perform a movie trailer for your take on the book. It must be different then anything I can find on the internet about the book. You will be required to turn in your script, a storyboard and the movie itself in proper format. It must be a minimum of 3 minutes.
D. Compare and contrast Essay
• You will need to write a minimum of a 5 paragraph essay comparing and contrasting the book and the movie. You will need to use specific example from the book (including page numbers) as well as specific scenes from the movie. You will be expected to have proper spelling, grammar and punctuation.
Paper Analysis:
You will be asked to do an Individual analysis of the outside novel. You will be responsible for a 5 paragraph analysis of your novel. This needs to be more than a basic summary - it could instead include: theme, symbolism, a character and its development, etc. This will be typed, double-spaced, and include specific examples from the book with proper documentation - you should include at least 5 quotes/examples (including page numbers) from the book supporting your thesis. This will be due on Friday, January 6, 2017. (This will be 20 % of grade - 80 points)
Study Guide:
You will create a study guide that would go along with your book that students could use. You would need to include page numbers and answers for each of your questions. You need to cover each chapter (typically 5-10 questions per chapter depending on the size of the chapter). You will create this in google docs and share it with your teacher to monitor throughout the quarter. (This will be 30% of final grade-120 points)

- Use Keynote to produce a multimedia project. Your presentation should summarize the book, give a character description of all major characters, use of literary terms with examples. Terms include: symbolism, irony, satire, sarcasm, personification, tone, theme, and exaggeration. Other ideas you may want to include: historical context - why was the book written/what does it discuss historically, characters - give some descriptions, symbols that happen throughout the book and how they affected the books meaning, awards, tell us about the book - who should read it/why, summarize - teach us the importance of the book
